The first hot tub in the western world is accredited to Roy Jacuzzi (sound familiar). This California man was the first individual to commercially market a precursor to the hot tub, via a self-contained bath system. Jacuzzis, named after the inventor, hit the market in the 1970s and were rumored to have been modeled after ancient Roman’s baths.
This first whirlpool hot tubs used an aeration pump to produce the swirly mix of water we are familiar with today. Since the first basic models, hot tubs have evolved into a rich and diverse market available in a range of shapes, sizes, and accessories like therapeutic jets, swim spas, and so on.
