Pool Update Trends For The Offseason

Fall is a great time to assess the state of your pool, make changes to your equipment, and update the general look or feel of your entire backyard environment. Some of the noteworthy trending update ideas for the offseason include:

Aggregate Pool Surface Finishes

If you are still looking at that white plaster pool surface and would love to figure out a way to bring a more interesting color and texture to your pool water, consider resurfacing with an aggregate finish. Aggregate finishes mix finely crushed sparkling and colored stones into white or colored plaster for a finish that is more durable and stain and chemical resistant.

LED or Fiber Optic Lights

If it has been a while since you have taken a close look at your lighting system, consider doing updating this system this year. Most new pools these days are fitted with LED or Fiber Optic lights. Both options provide lighting for long periods of time without having to replace bulbs, although LED definitely goes longer, and both options come in an array of different lighting colors that can now actually be programmed to change and fade. The primary difference between the two though is ease of use. The bulb of an LED light is inside the pool so requires that its housing is removed from the pool for changing or maintenance. Fiber Optic bulbs are located outside of the pool so there is literally no electricity in the water at an time.

Built-In Seating

Seating is critical if you are looking to up your backyard entertainment game around the swimming pool next summer. While a well-designed deck with plenty of outdoor seating is great, built-in benches are an excellent way to bring the focus of the party to the pool area. You can really use your imagination with built-in seating, creating long social benches along the straight edges of your pool, or small privacy nooks in the corners or curves.
